We don't sell hours. We sell working software at a price you approve before we start, so you have one number to budget against and take to your board.
How We Work Together
Discovery is priced by size. A new build is one fixed price for the whole job. Modernization and everything after launch are priced increment by increment, with each one agreed before it starts.
Fixed fee · Sized to the work
Most engagements start here. Our engineers put AI tooling across your systems and your data, either shaping the scope and architecture of something new or recovering the business rules buried in something old. It runs from a couple of days for a contained change to around six weeks for a program spanning several systems, and it ends in a written plan with prices attached to it.
One price, set by size · agreed before we start
One price for the whole build, based on its size. We size it with you in a single session and send the quote that week. That price covers everything through to production.
Up to 100% of your discovery fee comes off the top of the build.
The larger the build, the higher the percentage. On the biggest, the whole fee comes back.
Module by module · priced before we start
A platform that has run for twenty years is too large to bid as a single number, so we don’t try. Each module is estimated in points and priced before we touch it, and that price holds even when the work takes longer than we expected.
You approve the next increment rather than the whole program, and you can change priorities or stop between any two of them.
Most of our work is for clients we first shipped for years ago. After launch the same architect and engineers stay on, modernizing the next module and building what users ask for once they have the software in their hands. It is billed the same way as the modernization work, because it is the same arrangement.
Rolling · 30-day notice · priced per increment
Discovery runs anywhere from a few days to six weeks, depending on what we are looking at. It ends with a written plan and a price for the build, and if you build with us, up to 100% of the fee comes off that price.
